Spring Latex Fashion News

The month of February and march is usually seen as a gloomy and uneventful one, but not in the fashion world. The month has been full of big fashion moments, and we’re only halfway through! From the runway to the red carpet and even the Super Bowl halftime show, latex looks have been making a statement.

Paris Fashion Week saw designers like Margiela and Jean Paul Gaultier showcase looks accented with latex pieces. Margiela’s collection exuded a playful, punk attitude with a mix of patterns and fabrics, including wool plaid, taffeta, tulle, organza and latex. Styling was a key element of the show, with models wearing layered looks with latex shorts, gloves and other finishing touches that added depth to each outfit. Jean Paul Gaultier also used latex as a key accessory, adding a bold pop of color to tailored, structured pieces like overcoats and jumpsuits.

At the Grammy Awards, Doja Cat stunned in a black one-shoulder gown by Versace made of vinyl, giving off a latex-like effect. Sam Smith and Kim Petras also made a statement with their monochromatic red outfits, complete with latex-looking gloves and pieces. Sam even wore a full latex jumpsuit by HARRI at the Brit Awards a few days later.

And who could forget Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime performance? The singer made some strategic sartorial choices, wearing an all-red multi-layer ensemble consisting of a flight suit style jumpsuit, a red catsuit, and a red silicone breastplate with a latex effect. The ensemble, designed by Loewe, played an important role in revealing Rihanna’s pregnancy news.

Overall, February has been a busy month for latex looks, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of fashion month brings. Stay tuned for more fashion highlights and trends!
